Terms of use

Last updated 23 August 2026

These terms apply when you use SeloGate — the app, the web app, and the service behind them — as a resident, a gate manager, or an installer. Using SeloGate means you accept them. The safety section comes first because it is the part that can hurt someone.

Safety — please read this part

SeloGate controls powered gates and barriers. These are heavy moving machines that can cause serious injury, death, or damage to property.

  • SeloGate is a convenience layer, not a safety device. It does not detect people, vehicles, pets, or anything else in a gate's path. The gate's own safety hardware — sensors, safety edges, auto-reverse — is what protects people, and it belongs to the gate's owner, its installer, and the equipment manufacturer, not to us.
  • Never open a gate you cannot see, or when a person, animal, vehicle, or object may be in its path.
  • Do not rely on SeloGate for emergency access or escape. It depends on networks, third-party hardware, power, and connectivity, any of which can be unavailable at any moment. Always keep an independent way in and out.
  • Operating your gate safely is your responsibility, including compliance with the applicable powered-gate safety standards — in Europe and Israel typically EN 12453 and EN 13241 — and making sure the hardware is properly installed, maintained, and fitted with the safety devices it requires.
  • Supervise anything that opens a gate for you. A remote open, a schedule, or a shortcut must only be used when you can be sure the gate's path is clear.

Using SeloGate means you understand and accept these risks. Nothing on this page removes a liability that the law does not allow us to remove.

The agreement

Creating an account, opening a gate, or otherwise using SeloGate means you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use it.

If you accept on behalf of an organisation — a property-management company, a building committee — you are saying you are allowed to commit it, and "you" means that organisation.

Who can hold an account

  • You must be at least 18 to accept these terms and to hold a SeloGate account in your own name.
  • We do not check anyone's age, and we would rather say so than let you assume otherwise. SeloGate has no age field and no age check. An account is a phone number and a name you choose.
  • A manager who gives a minor access to a gate is responsible for whatever consent that needs. Access is granted by a gate's manager, not applied for by the person receiving it, and the manager is the one who knows the household. We do not treat a manager's grant as our own verification of anyone's age.
  • Your account is secured by your mobile number and a one-time code. Keep access to your phone and number secure; what happens under your account is your responsibility. Tell us promptly if you think someone else is using it, and sign out of every device from Settings.

What SeloGate does, and who does what

  • SeloGate lets people who are authorised open, close, and check compatible gates, and lets managers decide who those people are.
  • Managers control who has access to a gate and on what terms — role, schedule, validity window. Residents may open a gate only within a valid, current grant. Installers provision and service the gate hardware.
  • A grant can be time-limited, scheduled, restricted to one connection (Bluetooth only, for instance), or revoked at any time. Our servers evaluate every single command — permission is not something the app decides for itself.

What you agree not to do

  • Open, or try to open, any gate you are not authorised to operate.
  • Share, transfer, or resell access other than through the features built for it.
  • Interfere with, probe, or try to get around SeloGate's authorisation, security, or rate limits.
  • Reverse engineer or decompile the service, or try to extract credentials or secrets from it — except where the law says that restriction does not apply.
  • Use SeloGate unlawfully, or to harass, endanger, or infringe the rights of anyone else.
  • Reach the service by automated means outside the interfaces we provide.

We may suspend or end access when these terms are broken.

The gate hardware is not ours

  • SeloGate operates compatible third-party gate controllers, and depends on third-party networks, cloud infrastructure, messaging providers, and the site's own power and connectivity.
  • We do not make, install, or warrant the gate. Its installation, maintenance, safety compliance, and physical operation belong to the site owner, its installer, and the equipment manufacturer.
  • Opening a gate over the internet passes through infrastructure we do not fully control, so we cannot promise it will always be available.

Availability — what we do not promise

We aim for high availability, and we provide SeloGate "as available." We do not promise it will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or free of errors, or that any particular gate will open at any particular moment. A service-level commitment exists only where a separate written agreement says so. Keep an independent way in and out.

Subscriptions, and what happens if one lapses

  • Some features are covered by a paid subscription bought by a gate's manager or organisation. Residents never pay to use SeloGate.
  • Plans, prices, and billing cycles are the ones shown at purchase. Prices are in shekels, and a tax invoice (חשבונית מס/קבלה) is issued as required.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before the renewal date. Cancelling stops future renewals; the cancellation and refund rights consumer law gives you are unaffected by anything here.
  • If a subscription lapses, residents keep opening the gate. Manager features may be degraded — inviting people, exporting logs, live monitoring — but we will not block a resident from opening a gate because a manager has not paid. Opening the gate you live behind is a safety-sensitive thing to be able to do, and a billing dispute between us and a manager is not a reason to leave you standing outside your own building. This is a deliberate choice, and it is not the one comparable products make.

Your own view of the app

You can give a gate a nickname, an icon, a colour, and a position in your list. These are yours alone — nobody else at that gate sees them. A gate's default name and configuration belong to its managers. You give us the permission we need to store and show your settings in order to run the service.

SeloGate, its software, design, brand, and content are ours or our licensors'. You get a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use it for what it is for.

Ending it

  • You can stop using SeloGate and delete your account at any time.
  • We may suspend or end access — with or without notice — where these terms are broken, where there is a security or safety risk, for non-payment as described above, or where the law requires it.
  • When access ends, the parts of these terms that are meant to outlast it continue: safety, ownership, the disclaimers, and governing law.

Liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, SeloGate is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind — including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill; nor for injury or damage arising from the physical operation of a gate, from a path that was not clear, from third-party hardware, networks, power, or connectivity, or from the service being unavailable.

None of that removes a liability the law does not allow us to remove — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or under Israel's mandatory consumer-protection law.

Governing law, and which language wins

  • These terms are governed by the laws of Israel, and the competent courts of Tel Aviv-Jaffa have exclusive jurisdiction — subject to any mandatory right you have as a consumer to bring proceedings where you live.
  • This page is published in Hebrew and English. If the two disagree, the Hebrew version governs.

What this page does not say yet

Some of what normally sits in a document like this is not settled, and we would rather leave it out than print something we have not decided. The same is true of the privacy policy, which says plainly that it has no retention period for the gate-open log yet.

  • Our company details — registered name, company number, and registered address.
  • Prices, VAT treatment, billing cycles, the refund policy beyond your statutory rights, and who processes payments. No paid subscription is being sold through this page today.
  • Any cap on our total liability. There is none stated here, and none applies by virtue of this page.

Each will appear here when it is settled, and the date at the top will change with it.

Changes, and how to reach us

We may update these terms. Where a change matters we will say so in the app or by message, and it takes effect on the date stated; continuing to use SeloGate after that means you accept it. If you do not, stop using it.
